Welcome and Announcements

A Time of Greeting

Responsive Call to Worship

P: Jesus said, “I am the vine and you are the branches…

Abide in me as I abide in you.”

C: We come to reaffirm and renew our connection with the life-giving Vine.

P: Jesus said, “I appointed you to go and bear fruit… fruit that will last.”

C: We want to be fruitful, productive people whose lives make a difference.

P: Jesus said, “This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you.”

All: Christ, you are the Vine. We are the branches.  We will bear your fruit.   We will abide in your love and share it!

Opening Prayer
* HYMN #318                “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

Unison Call to Confession

God, forgive us. Sometimes we allow threats to unity to enter the church, making it hard to see that we are Yours. We act as though we do not need each other. We do not always love one another. We do not know and bear one another’s burdens. We fail to build each other up. We do not always give ourselves willingly and joyfully to one another. Forgive us, and strengthen us so that we may live in the unity that You grant us.

The National Day of Prayer is Moving to 'Prime Time'

Our theme this year is For Your Great Name's Sake! Hear Us ...Forgive Us ...Heal Us! which is inspired by Daniel 9:19. As the 2017 National Day of Prayer on May 4th quickly approaches, thousands of individuals, churches, and communities will be working to rally millions of Christian's to once again heed this national call to prayer. One big change this year is that the National Day of Prayer Washington DC Observance will be moving to an evening event! From 7:30 to 9 pm ET, you can tune in by live stream on our National Day of Prayer website, as our Chairperson, Anne Graham Lotz, leads us in unified prayer for America.
